What to expect
You can think of coaching as a roadtrip with someone that truly supports you from navigating, to unlocking roadblocks and helping you to get back on track as well as holding you accountable to actually take the steps necessary to equip you better for the path ahead of you and take the step itself to get to where you truly want to be in life.
You are the one in control here and steering yourself in the direction that you want to take and at the speed that you want. I will support you on the way, help you gain new perspectives, find solutions and a deeper understanding of yourself and the topic at hand.
Coaching is an investment into yourself. It requires not only financial investment, but also your time, dedication and focus as well for it to work. Take a moment and think about it. Ask yourself:
I. What do you want to achieve with coaching?
II. What does it cost you to not focus and achieve your goals in your life?
Think about all the opportunities you might miss out on.
III. Are you truly desiring a change and can commit to the process?
The starting point is therefore to understand what you can gain and what you need to invest. Of course, there is a financial investment as well. The Coaching fee depends on the topic and level of depth that is required to achieve your goals. Coaching can be paid by yourself, in which cases you might benefit from tax refunds for career coaching topics. But it might also be possible that the company or organization you are working for is willing to pay for your coaching, as an employee development benefit. If you are unsure whether your company or organization can offer you this benefit, it might be worthwhile to ask. In case your employer is paying for your coaching, please be assured that everything discussed during our coaching session is strictly confidential and will not be shared with your employer.
The time, dedication and focus you invest into your coaching is ultimately up to you. An Average coaching engagement on a specific topic ranges usually from 3 to 6 months, depending on the topic and the session intervals. In addition to our sessions, you should plan some time to reflect on the session topics. There might also be some homework for you to do between sessions and of course preparing for the next session.
We will work out a plan together which works best for you, taking into account your goals, your ability to learn new skills and implement them, as well as the time you can dedicate to your coaching.
We will begin with a chemistry call to see if we are a good fit and can establish a partnership. If we agree to work together, then we will establish a coaching agreement as the foundation of our relationship and the work we will do together. This agreement will define roles, responsibilities and rights of all parties involved. It will state the length of our initial engagement, the frequency and duration of our sessions, and the means of communication to be used.
Coaching is a Partnership that’s all about you.
You can expect from me to help you discover, clarify and align with what you want to achieve. For this we will create a safe, non-judgmental space for you in which I am encouraging your self-discovery. During our sessions, I may use powerful questions and tools, including personality assessments, to help you explore and brainstorm different possibilities that you can then use to create your own solutions and strategies.
It is very likely that I will give you “homework” between sessions to help you keep the momentum of your discovery and progress. You can expect me to keep you accountable to your goals and be straight with you.
I expect you to be honest and vulnerable with yourself, and dare yourself to explore things that may make you feel uncomfortable. The safe space of a coaching session gives you the support to be truly honest and open about yourself and your roadblocks so that we can discover new possibilities and eliminate limiting beliefs. In case you feel stuck at any point, say it and let us explore why you are stuck and how to change it. Coaching is free of blame and shame, so that you can freely say and explore whatever you need to move forward and of course to take the leap and make the step forward towards your goals.
If you are open and honest throughout the process, experiencing life-changing breakthroughs and achieving your goals might be easier than you can imagine right now.
For me, coaching you is a thought-provoking and creative process that will inspire you to reflect about yourself and enable you to see things in a new light so that you can maximize your personal and professional potential. The process of coaching often unlocks previously untapped sources of imagination, productivity and leadership.
My toolbox and methods to help you achieve that come from various sources. The basics are thought-provoking and empowering questions that can stimulate change.
A big roadblock in everyone´s life is limiting beliefs. To get that out of your way I am equipped with using metaphors, hypnotic language and neurolinguistic programming as well as different models for cognitive restructuring, a deeper knowledge of acceptance and commitment therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy. All of which I can weave together according to your needs to help you overcome your limiting beliefs. But please note coaching is not therapy. If your suffering from a mental illness that you want to overcome, then I strongly advise you to seek therapy instead of coaching. I am only able to provide coaching to you.
Furthermore, we can enable you to connect to your surrounding and the people in your life by nurturing your emotional intelligence, equipping you with different conflict resolution methods, understanding emotional blackmail and how to counter it and train your mindfulness and meditation to center yourself.
I keep myself constantly trained in psychology and coaching best practices to broaden my knowledge with which I can support you on your journey.
The coaching topic “working on your career” is a bit different than usual coaching topics as it can also entail training, mentoring, and consulting parts which are usually disconnected from coaching.
Working on your Career covers the entire spectrum of your work-life. We would discuss in a chemistry call, what it is that you are looking for on this topic and define the best course of action.
Working on your career could mean finding a new job, getting a promotion, increasing your salary, resolving a conflict or even mobbing situation at work, improving soft skills that are required for your job, working on stress management, resilience, or how to be a better manager or team leader up to how to start your own business etc… There are a lot of options. Therefore a mix of training, coaching, and mentoring or even consulting might be required to achieve your goals. All of which I can provide.
As an example, finding a new job could include a strength and weakness analysis of your skill set, training on where to find the kind of jobs you are looking for and an assessment of your application documents, training on how to write CVs and cover letters that will set you apart from the other applicants. Furthermore, it might include Interview and Assessment Test trainings and contract negotiation skill improvements, and a final review and consulting on your offered employment contract. As you can see it is quite a mix of coaching, training, and consulting.
